aBOUT US

Hi, I’m Nina, the farmer & designer here at Pigeon Top Flowers. We’re a boutique flower farm & design studio nestled at the base of our namesake, Pigeon Top Mountain.

This farm has been a long-time dream of mine, and has come about slowly, while working on other farms and in flower shops and design studios. I spent a lot of time scheming and dreaming between the birth of my two children, and in 2024 we decided to dive in!

After many seasons of growing and arranging flowers, I am thrilled to be on my own land, cultivating a collection of my favorite perennials, peonies, bulbs, woodies, and dahlias for florists and flower lovers in the Crozet & Charlottesville area.

My team so far includes my husband and two kiddos, my parents, and a wonderful bunch of friends who have helped out in so many ways big and small to get this farm up and running.

We’re hiring 1-2 part-time positions for the 2026 farm season. If you’ve been itching to get in the dirt & learn about growing flowers, check out the job description and apply!

OUR PRACTICES

We grow like we live here, because we do! We breathe the air, drink the well water, swim in the pond, and our kids play in the flower field. We don’t use any sprays that would harm the kids, wildlife, or pollinators. We plan to be here for a long time so each decision is made with a long view, for the benefit of the land, the flowers, and the farmers.

For us this means focusing on our soil health first and foremost. We use minimal tillage and lots of compost, leaf mulch, and living cover crops to replenish the soil. Other long-term plans include a solar array to power the farm!
